Jodi Schluter, director of health services/College physician assistant, shares a few tips to know as you head into the fall semester.
- What’s the easiest way to schedule an appointment? Call the health center at 610-330-5001.
- Where to find them? Bailey’s is located on campus, at 607 High St., across from the College Store. The health center is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m to 5 p.m; Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday, and is closed Sundays. After-hours care options include virtual visits ($49) through St. Luke’s using one’s insurance or self-pay options, or an on-call nurse 5-8 p.m. seven days a week during the semester ($25 charge billed to your student account).
- If I’m sick, how would I get a prescription filled? Neighbor Pharmacy, located at 1800 Sullivan Trail in Forks Township, can work with a student’s insurance and deliver prescriptions once a day, allowing students to pick up prescriptions from Bailey Health Center.
- Is there a fee or co-payments for an in-person visit? There is a common misconception that students need Lafayette insurance in order to see a professional. No matter the insurance, you can see a provider. All students are able to see a provider regardless of insurance, private insurance, etc., with no co-payments. However, there are fees associated with some of the services offered at Bailey’s such as rapid testing, lab work, immunizations, or medications.
- Does Bailey’s offer other services beyond general sick visits? Yes, Bailey’s will see Lafayette students for injuries, women’s health services, and mental health services (in coordination with the Counseling Center). Bailey’s also provides on-site testing and laboratory services (bloodwork), allergy injections (allergy desensitization), consultation to students traveling abroad, STI testing, and more.
- Can I volunteer at Bailey Health Center? The center does not offer volunteer work due to confidentiality requirements, but does work with the student Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Club and collaborates with student groups.
