Previous generations of Lafayette students shared records and mementos of their Lafayette days in three time capsules buried on campus in 1833, 1932, and 1962. In honor of the College’s Bicentennial, Lafayette will be adding a fourth time capsule and has recently unearthed the previous time capsules.

In celebration of the Marquis de Lafayette’s birthday Thurs., Sept. 3, Skillman Library will feature a display of materials from Lafayette’s 1833 time capsule! But hurry, this display will be on view for one day only. View it during the library’s open hours, Thurs., Sept. 3.

During Rivalry Week, the College will return materials from all time capsules—and new items for the 2026 Bicentennial Time Capsule—to the South College Cornerstone.
