Kenzie Burns, assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering has been recognized as an “Industry Standout” in Bucknell University’s 30 Under 30 for 2026 for her research contributions, academic publication record, and commitment to undergraduate mentorship. She has a B.S. in environmental engineering with a French minor from Bucknell, and a Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin–Madison. Her research focuses on bioelectrochemical systems for resource recovery from high-strength waste streams, sustainable dairy manure treatment, and contaminant distribution across small watersheds. During her Ph.D., Burns published several first-author journal papers, secured competitive research fellowships, and mentored more than 15 undergraduates, including two Fulbright and Hilldale fellowship recipients.
