The tools engineers use to design, build, and connect the world have evolved. The Engineering Artifacts: Past, Present, & Future exhibit in the Kirby Art Study Center explores this ongoing progression through objects from College Hill and the Lehigh Valley. The pieces demonstrate changing standards of efficiency, safety, sustainability, and technological progress over time. Guest-curated by Jenn Rossmann, dean of engineering, the exhibition marks Lafayette College’s Bicentennial and the 160th anniversary of engineering majors at the College. While celebrating this rich history, the installation offers an inspiring look ahead to the discipline’s future. The exhibition is on view in the Kirby Art Study Center in the Williams Arts Center on High Street now through Dec. 4.
